Working with Scenario 360 folders and files

Upon installation of the Scenario 360 software, a new directory will be created in your C:\ drive called CVFiles.  You can change this during installation but it is recommended that you accept the default location.  If you should choose a separate directory, make sure the new location allows you full read/write privileges and that there is plenty of disk space to hold large feature data sets and 3D scene data.  The Scenario 360 folder structure is described below:

C:

CVFiles  When creating a new analysis, you will be prompted to create the analysis in this default directory.  You may choose to override this default - if so, make sure the new location allows you full read/write privileges and that there is plenty of disk space to hold large feature data sets and 3D scene data.

Templates When saving templates, you will be prompted to save them in this default directory.

[Analysis Name] This folder is created when you create a new analysis.  The name is the name you chose when you created your analysis.

CVAnalysis.gdb This folder contains the file geodatabase being used for your analysis.  It contains dynamic layers.  This folder may not exist if your analysis is not in file geodatabase format.

CVAnalysis.mxd This ArcGIS map document records layer symbology, map layout, window states, and VBA customization.

CVAnalysis.mdb This ArcGIS geodatabase An object-oriented geographic database that provides services for managing geographic data. These services include validation rules, relationships, and topological associations. A geodatabase contains feature datasets and is hosted inside of a relational database management system. (See also: personal geodatabase). contains all feature data for dynamic layers if your analysis is in personal geodatabast format.

CVAnalysisInfo.xml This XML file contains definitions for all Scenario 360 analysis items such as assumptions, indicators, alerts, and charts.  Formulas are also stored in this file.

The three key files above are part of the automatic analysis backup system.

~Backup This folder contains the last saved copy of your analysis.

3D This folder contains 3D data associated with the analysis.  It is the default location for storing SiteBuilder 3D terrain, drape, and 3D legend files.  It is NOT part of the analysis backup system, and therefore will not impact the performance of analysis load and save.

Data This folder is provided as a container for additional (non-dynamic) feature data included in the analysis.  Placing reference data in this folder enables more convenient transportation of your analyses to other workstations and users.  During CommunityViz 1 scenario import, all non-automated data that was contained in the scenario folder as well as any reference data sets you choose to transfer are copied to this location.

Compare Images This folder is provided as a default storage location for images to be used in the scenario comparison view.  You can browse to select images stored in other locations, but placing images in this folder enables more convenient transportation of analyses to other workstations and users.  This folder is NOT part of the analysis backup system, and therefore will not impact the performance of analysis load and save.  Screen captures from SiteBuilder 3D (using shortcut F11) will be stored to this location by default.

Reports This folder contains saved reports for the analysis.  Each subfolder will contain a different report.  This folder is NOT part of the analysis backup system, and therefore will not impact the performance of analysis load and save.

[Detailed Analysis Report Name] The name of this folder is the same as the name you specified when creating your report.

Images This folder contains images of charts and maps that you selected to include in your report. The folder also contains copies of any other images you may have pulled into the report (such as a photo or a screen capture of a 3D scene).  You can import these images into PowerPoint presentations, word documents, etc.

Resources This folder contains all supporting HTML files, CSS files, etc. for your report.

[My Scenario Comparison Report] Double-click this file to open your report.  The report name is the same name you specified when creating the report.

[Summary Report Name] This type of report records summary information about the analysis.  The folder name is the same as the name you specified when creating your report.

File Dependency Report Double-click this file to open a report detailing information about all files that must be transferred to move this analysis to another workstation or share it with another user.

CV1 Import Report.txt If the analysis was created from an imported CommunityViz 1 scenario, this file appears.  It details any layers that need to be added manually, or formulas that need to be repaired

WebShots This folder is the default location for WebShots outputs.  Within the folder are subfolders for each version of WebShots you created.

index.htm launches the WebShots in your browser and includes a “loading” page so that WebShots perform more smoothly once they are loaded.

WebShots.htm launches the application directly without pre-loading.

AnalysisName.kmz This is the default name and location for Google Earth-readable files in KMZ format.
