Licensing CommunityViz Products

CommunityViz licensing supports Scenario 360, SiteBuilder 3D, and optional separate licensing for CommunityViz decision tools.  You can activate CommunityViz licenses or check on their status using the Scenario 360 toolbar, click the Scenario 360 Tools License option.

To manage your CommunityViz Scenario 360 license, use the CommunityViz License tab.  To manage decision tools, use the Decision Tools tab.

Licensing Decision Tools

You must activate your CommunityViz Scenario 360 license before you can activate licenses for decision tools.  (For more information on activating your Scenario 360 license, see the installation instructions that came with your software.)  Once you have activated your CommunityViz Scenario 360 license, you will have a License ID and License Type.

License activation creates an encoded file that allows the decision tool to work with your installation of Scenario 360.  License Keys are not transferable and will not work with other decision tools or other Scenario 360 License IDs.  For network licenses, the number of seats allowed is encoded within the license, so adding seats requires re-licensing.

A decision tool may or may not require a separate license to operate.   If no license is required, you will see “Valid (no license required)” next to its name under License Status.

If a license is required, the License Status will be “Activation required” until you or your network administrator activates it.  Decision tool licenses may need to be purchased separately.  If your License Type is “Network License,” all license information is stored on your server and only the network administrator can activate the license.  If your License Type is “Single seat fixed license,” you as the user can activate the license.

To activate a decision tool license:

  1. Click on the name of the tool and then click Activate License.

  2. Enter the License Key supplied by your tool provider.   It is a long string of characters, so we recommend using “Copy” and "Paste” editing functions to enter the key if possible to avoid mistyping.

  3. Optionally, you can select a location to store the license file that will be created.  By default, however, the license file is stored in C:\CVLicense.  License files have a .lf extension, and their location is stored in your computer registry.

  4. Click OK. If the license activation was successful, you will receive a confirmation message and be returned to the previous screen.  If there was a problem with the activation, you will receive a message and be given the opportunity to try again.

  5. Repeat the license activation steps for any other decision tools you want to use.
