When used in conjunction with the optional SiteBuilder3D for ArcGIS extension, Scenario 360 provides integrated, real-time exploration of photo-realistic 3D landscapes. While the 3D scenes no longer support the dynamic themes used in earlier versions, they now have the ability to switch dynamically between scenarios as needed.
SiteBuilder 3D creates three-dimensional representations of the terrain and features using shapefiles that contain elevation or feature In the 3D viewer, a feature is a shape that represents an actual or imaginary object such as a building, road, or tree. Features can be points, lines, or polygons. (point, line, or polygon) data. You create a base terrain from elevation data (USGS DEM, TIN A TIN is a set of non-overlapping triangles that represent a surface. You can create a TIN from vector data or from a grid., GRID, contours, or points) and then drape an image onto the terrain. You can place point, polygon, and line features on the terrain at their real world locations as three-dimensional extruded shapes or by substituting 3D models from an extensive Model Library.
When you open the 3D Viewer by clicking the Launch 3D Viewer
button
on the SiteBuilder toolbar, or 3D
on the 360 Analysis tab, or the View
Scenario in 3D button
on the Scenario 360 toolbar,
your ArcMap information appears as a three-dimensional scene in the 3D
Viewer. You can move around in it, fly over it, and look at your features
from all sides – all in realtime. You
choose the direction, the type of motion, and the speed. Environmental
effects, such as fog, clouds, and time of day lighting can be added to
enhance visual realism.
The new Create sharable 3D scene feature allows you to save 3D scenes in a portable format that can be used on other computers. Friends and colleagues can fly through and explore your scenes at no charge and without needing to install SiteBuilder 3D.
You can set paths through a 3D view and then make movie files in many movie formats from these paths. These movies can run on virtually all computers, allowing you to share your 3D realtime with others who do not have SiteBuilder 3D installed on their computers. The 3D view can also be exported and loaded into any application that reads OpenFlight The format for feature models placed in SiteBuilder 3D.® format for further modification.
