How do I convert DEM data to a grid?

The CommunityViz Data Center provides DEM data as a data option.  To add DEM data to your analysis, do the following:

1. Launch ArcToolbox (click the Start menu, navigate to the ArcGIS folder, and click ArcToolbox).

2. Click the + next to Import to Raster to expand the toolbox.

3. Double-click DEM to Grid.

4. Click the Browse button, navigate to the DEM file, click the file, then click Open.

5. Set your Grid type and Z-factor.

6. Click the Browse button, navigate to the directory you wish to create the grid file in, type a name for the grid file, then click Save.

7. Click OK.

8. Close ArcToolbox.

9. You can now add the grid data to your analysis.
